Destination Northside Coalition is administering the portion of funds allocated to North Minneapolis through the Main Street Economic Revitalization Program. This $80 million statewide economic redevelopment program awards grants to partner organizations so they can provide grants and guaranteed loans for economic development and redevelopment projects.
The Minneapolis Foundation, in partnership with LISC Twin Cities and Propel Nonprofits, is launching a new grant opportunity to support small business recovery and rebuilding in three of the Minneapolis business corridors worst hit by the combined impact of COVID-19 and the destruction following the murder of George Floyd.
These grants are made possible by funding from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) through a 2021 Main Street Economic Revitalization Program award.
Starting in spring 2020, the Foundation will distribute $18 million in Main Street grants to businesses, property owners, developers, and nonprofits advancing renovation or new construction projects near or along these corridors: Lake Street, 38th Street/Chicago Avenue, and West Broadway.
Applicants may apply for a maximum of 30% of an eligible project’s cost, up to $750,000.
